1990 wasn't in the 80s. I lived it, and the 80s didn't really end until about 1991. It's irrelevant though, the 2nd and 3rd movies were shot at the same time, so this was indeed shot in the 80s. Filming occurred mostly in 1989 but finished in January 1990. Apparently they filmed II and III back to back.
